Shoppers are voicing their frustration due to a modification that led to items being listed as the wrong size.
This online marketplace has updated its size classifications for female and kids' apparel without notifying all shoppers about the modification.
Social Media Response
Countless users and merchants are posting online stating that platform listings now display a different size category than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.
Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with similar services.
They have suggested members to check their listings and update the measurements by hand when needed, which has left users frustrated.
Sizing System Modifications
Earlier, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size used to be a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Member Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she said.
Required Changes
Another shopper, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she stated.
Service Background
The service features exceeding 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users.
It has become a favored option to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: previously, the service retracted a modification to its shipping options after backlash from users.
